Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Act as a technical lead and Tier 3 support for network related issues.

Perform monitoring of network using various monitoring tools and applications.

Ability to take ownership of and provide hands-on support of technology projects and be accountable for ultimate success of such projects.

Working directly with Sales, Installations and Support staff to ensure service delivery metrics are being met.

Document troubleshooting procedures in internal ticketing system.

Provide technical training for less experienced staff.

Take part in 24/7 on-call rotation which require rapid response times.

Occasional local travel required.

Performing other work-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

Minimum of 6 years of experience in advanced troubleshooting of large networks.

Demonstrated experience in a telecom service provider environment supporting both voice and data networks.

Demonstrated experience troubleshooting Metro Ethernet & MPLS network services is required (L3VPN, EoMPLS, VPLS, EVPN, etc.).

Experience with Cisco and/or Juniper Routing and Switching is required.

Experience with fiber optic technologies such as DWDM/CWDM a plus.

Demonstrated knowledge of internal (IS-IS/OSPF) and BGP routing protocols a must.

Excellent customer service skills.

Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills.

Recent hands-on experience with both Cisco and Juniper networking hardware.

Solid understanding of layer 2 technologies (VLANs, Q-in-Q, STP, etc.).

Solid understanding of Quality-of-Service concepts and design.

Solid understanding of network security.

CCNP, JNCIS, or other comparable network certifications a plus, but not required.

Candidates must possess a valid driver's license, a reliable vehicle, and be able to travel to sites throughout the DC Metro area.

Strong sense of professionalism and active listening skills.

Proven project management skills in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Excellent time management and organizational skills

Note: This is not a remote position and does not include a relocation allowance. We are seeking candidates who currently reside in the Metro DC area.
